• Esther Williams, the famous swimmer and star of Hollywood’s water-borne specials described the Mar Menor as “the largest swimming pool in the world”
• The temperature of the water in the Mar Menor is at least five degrees centigrade warmer than in the Mediterranean on the other side of La Manga (The Sleeve), the spit of land which separates them. It can reach 30C in summer
• The mineral content of the mud at Lo Pagán makes it especially good for regenerating the skin
